Video
is not just for television anymore.
As the Internet and other interactive media like CD-ROMs grow in their
acceptance as fundamental tools in conducting business, developers
and users expect to see more and more capability and functionality
built into these applications. One capability that has lagged behind
until recently is video and audio inclusion in web sites and on corporate
networks, laptops, and CD-ROM. The main reason....quality. Video has
long been a valued component in any corporate marketing, advertising
or training media mix. Its ability to communicate with sound and motion
often gives the presenter's message far more credibility than words
and pictures alone.
Yet,
compressing video can do nasty things to it. One second of uncompressed
video can total over 20 MB. Even with a 56k modem it can take too
much time to download even the most brief video file. Compressing
video is a constant push and pull between retaining quality and
minimizing file size. Luckily, we have seen remarkable progress
in just the past two years in allowing video to become a legitimate
complement to interactive content. Also codecs and players are emerging,
(along with faster transfer speeds) to make video and audio an emerging
option in many, (not all) circumstances for delivery over the web.
However, in order to make the most of video and audio in a multimedia
project many factors need to be considered, and these are best handled
by video professionals with backgrounds in video acquisition,
design, editing and encoding. JBC Communications offers this experience
and expertise both to primary clients and also to multimedia and
Internet design firms looking to provide these capabilities to their
clients. Thinking about adding video and audio to your presentation?
Of course JBC can handle the project soup to nuts. But we can also
assist you in adding or reformatting video to your project and leave
the rest to you. Click here
to answer a brief questionnaire for your project or inquiry. We
can usually respond within 24 - 48 hours.
